A large tree has fallen onto parked cars in Christchurchs North Hagley Park.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 11.52am Saturday on Harper Ave.

The tree is blocking the road.

The tree was blocking the road on Harper Ave and policed advised motorists to avoid the westbound lanes.

A police spokesperson said they believe no-one was in the parked cars.

Contractors have been advised, but the tree is likely to take some time to be removed, they said.

Two fire crews from Christchurch station and one from Ilam are at the scene.

Police said no-one was in the parked cars.
